British Meat for BBQ Week

Our Favourite British Cuts for BBQ Week, Including New Spatchcock Chicken…

With the weather forecast looking sunny and warm for BBQ Week next week, we’ve been thinking about just what British, organic meat we’ll be picking for our family barbecues. Of course, we’ll be enjoying the traditional BBQ meats, such as Eversfield Organic award-winning beef steak burgers and organic sausages. But we’re also excited about our organic and free range, best-selling British chicken, including our brand-new Jamaican Jerk Spatchcock Chicken – perfect for the barbecue…

National BBQ Week

This year, the team at the National BBQ Week organisation are celebrating their 26th year of running, now over a quarter of a century of promoting better British BBQ meat. During the week, which runs from 4th-10th July, the team are encouraging BBQ lovers to get together off the back of Covid-19 pandemic and celebrate in style. And, if you ask us, there’s nothing that brings friends and family together like proper, British food. We’re always working on our range of organic meats made for the barbecue. But if you’re still unsure, here’s a few reasons why this BBQ Week, you should choose Eversfield Organic meat…

Proper British Meat

On our organic Farm, we work hard to produce sustainable meat and always keep an eye out for the environment. Our regenerative farming methods and high animal welfare standards produce award-winning, finest quality organic meat, right here in the UK. Our herd of heritage Aberdeen Angus cattle are 100% grass fed, certified by Pasture for Life, living a completely natural and happy life. This produces only the finest cuts of organic, grass fed beef, packed with nutrients. Their slow growth makes for a gorgeous marbling of healthy fats, such as omega-3 fatty acids. Dry aged and hand-butchered in our Pasture for Life certified butchery, you’ll be hard pushed to find a better cut of grass fed beef for your family BBQ.

Looking for a sustainable sausage? Our pork is from outdoor bred and reared pigs, who spend their whole lives outdoors. Their natural lifestyle makes for a lean meat, thanks to their wandering and exploring, digging for their own tasty treats. In addition, the free range pigs are fed an organic feed filled with essential vitamins and minerals. With animal welfare at the heart of all we do, our organic pork is hand finished, cooked with carefully selected cures and butchered with traditional methods. You can truly taste the difference in our gluten-free, organic sausages.

Our best-selling organic chicken is popular for a reason. From the hills of East Devon, these free range chickens are reared in small flocks with wide fields to explore and forage. Their peaceful and happy life, organic feed and slow rearing makes for meaty organic chicken, with enough to feed the whole family. Succulent and tasty, exquisitely crisp when cooked on the BBQ.

BBQ Highlight: Spatchcock Chicken

Organic Spatchcock Chicken is a great choice for a family BBQ this BBQ week, conveniently hand-butchered and ready for grilling. Our expert butchers have carefully removed the backbone in the process of butterflying, all you need to do is add a skewer, your choice of marinade and cook on the barbecue for a delicious alfresco meal. Want to make it even easier? Try our brand-new Jamaican Jerk Spatchcock Chicken, combining our popular organic chicken with a hot and summery Jamaican Jerk seasoning for a true taste of heat. The classic flavours of Jamaican allspice and chillies provide just the kick you need at your summer barbecue.

You’ll need:

For the marinade:

Method:

  1. Mix the oil, paprika, garlic and lemon zest together with salt and pepper to create the marinade.
  2. Brush over the Spatchcock Chicken and leave to chill in the fridge for 30 minutes.
  3. Once the BBQ is ready, cook for 5 minutes on each side, then move to the edge of the BBQ and cook for a little while longer at the slightly cooler temperature. Be sure to regularly turn the chicken, basting in-between.
  4. To check if the chicken is cooked, pierce between the thigh and breast with a sharp knife. The meat should be white and firm.
  5. Once cooked, remove from the BBQ and leave to rest in foil for around 15 minutes.
  6. Finally, drizzle with lemon and seasoning. Cut and serve.
