Go Organic This World Food Day

Go Organic This World Food Day

You may have realised by now that we love rambling about food. So, you can imagine our glee when we realised that World Food Day 2022 was almost upon us and we had an excuse to discuss the wonders of organic once more.

The Background

There’s no denying that food consumption entails much more than just eating as a primal survival instinct. It’s something that promotes togetherness, expression, and emotion. We all have specific foods that we associate with a number of experiences throughout our lives. Stemming from our founder’s original aim to produce the healthiest and most delicious produce possible for his family, we understand the advantages of an organic diet.

World Food Day is an annual event held on the 16th of October to commemorate the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations, which has been running since 1945. The event seeks to promote better food production and nutrition with the hope to create a healthier environment and a better quality of life for all.

Aligned with our Values

In our position as a nationwide organic grocery service, we are passionate about delivering exceptional quality, nutritious food to our customers. However, we like to think that we go above and beyond whilst championing organic produce.

Take, for instance, our closed-loop sustainability scheme. This involves employing regenerative farming methods such as the recycling of our livestock manure to fertilise our luscious Devonshire paddocks. This negates the need for artificial, man-made fertilisers, pesticides and herbicides and thus removes them from the finished organic product. With the theme ‘safe food today for a healthy tomorrow’ emblazoning this year’s campaign, we want everyone to know that nature would always choose organic.

By opting for a chemical-free farming method, we are equipping the soil with all the tools to produce higher yields compared to conventional farming methods. Thus, if the demand for organic setups was heightened, more food could be produced to deal with a growing population.

That’s not the only good news! As the organic process keeps our soil clean and healthy, it equips it with the power to draw CO2 out of the atmosphere through a process called carbon sequestration. So, you can rest assured that when you opt to shop your organic groceries through us, you are supporting the growth of a sustainable, future-proof farming philosophy.

Get Involved

There are plenty of ways that you can take action this World Food Day and consume more consciously.

1: Choose products that are good for both you and the environment.

By shopping organic, you are automatically selecting more nutritious, healthy foods. However, a lot of packaging materials are non-recyclable and damaging for the environment when exposed of. Our compostable trays, paper bags, and recyclable boxes will put your mind at rest. Read more about our Packaging Reuse Scheme.

2: Improve food storage and reduce your personal waste.

It might benefit us to try and convince you to buy as much of our wonderful organic produce as humanly possible. But we believe you should only purchase what you will use. Visit our Recipe Hub for some inspiration on how to get creative with your organic leftovers.

3: Support local.

By supporting family-run businesses who are invested in their local community, you are helping to nurture a more sustainable ecosystem. This is a vital step in ensuring we build a future where more people have access to quality, organic food.
